Toyota Supra 50th Anniversary Commemorative Type designed by Toyota

The Toyota Supra 50th Anniversary Commemorative Type designed by Toyota was released in June 2020, in commemoration of Tomica's 50th anniversary. The design was chosen by the Toyota Gazoo Racing Design Group.

The overall image is of the GR Supra racing car sponsored by Tomica.

When designing Tomica's graphics, we kept in mind that children often look at them from above when playing, so we designed them using hexagonal graphics, which are used on the bumper grills of GR vehicles to mark time. The logo is arranged to look like the bib of a NASCAR vehicle, which can be seen from above.

At this scale, we basically designed a large graphic that would look great even when viewed from above—the basics of the geometric gradation pattern that incorporates the large TOMICA logo on the side.
